What Makes a Walkabout Trip Unique?
In October 2019, I announced my first Walkabout trip to London. I opened it up to six women, and within a week I had agreed to take not six, but seven women with me. It seemed that women were eager to travel!
If you’re a woman who wants to travel or who is thinking about taking a Walkabout Tour, read on to see why a Walkabout trip is unique.
Women Only
Many women either need or prefer to travel solo, have a spouse who doesn’t want to travel, or who may be hesitant to travel alone. But these reasons shouldn’t stop you from venturing out! From the beginning, my dream was to bring small groups of women together for a shared experience in Europe.
There’s something unique that happens when women come together, even when these women may not have known each other ahead of time. There’s a camaraderie, a bond that develops as we get to know each other and share our stories. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.
Interesting Destinations
I have been traveling to London for over 40 years, so that was a no-brainer for me. After several trips with me, my husband finally said, “Why don’t you find some women to go with you?” That’s all it took—just a little nudge from my husband (and some encouragement from long-time blog readers) to get me to think creatively about travel.
Our first destination, then, was London . . . until Covid hit and stopped us in our tracks. Thankfully, we’ve been able to postpone our trip for a year, and we’re all hopeful that all will be well by September 2021 when we will enjoy all the sights, sounds, and tastes that London has to offer.
In the meantime, I’m still dreaming and planning, and have announced a second trip for 2021 to Burgundy, France. Again, it’s a destination I’ve been to, so I know it will be special. The vineyards and monasteries of France really lend themselves to spiritual discussions as well as historical context and a lot of fun!
Travel with a Purpose
From the beginning, my intention was to make our trips meaningful and inspirational. It just seemed natural to me, an author and Bible teacher who has spoken across the United States, to bring the elements of faith and travel together. Our days will be spent sightseeing, but with the intention of looking for God along the way. We’ll start each day with a time of discussion together, and we’ll end each day with a time of reflection.
Bespoke Option
Let’s say you have a group of friends who have always wanted to travel together, but nobody has interest in planning the trip or leading the group once you’re there. That’s where I come in. Every detail of your trip, from the planning, ticketing (minus your flight), and leading your group, will be handled by me, your travel coordinator. When you land in your destination, you can rest easy because I’ll be with you to handle all the details. And if you want me to add the spiritual retreat element for your group, I’d be happy to do that.
